Transformative Safety: Stewarding Safety Culture
This course has been designed to help people who care about safety maintain the advances they’ve made and build upon their successes. As they integrate safety into the business of their organizations, workshop participants can apply new methods to reduce risk and its associated costs, decrease the amount of time that supervisors must spend on safety, trim down the average cost on a claim, and increase the shareholder return on investment. Finally, they will be able to help participants of safety training apply their new skills back on the job.
Who should attend?
This course helps trainers, assessors, managers, supervisors, and front-line workers bring out the best in people they work with to impact the day-to-day safety culture.
Purpose
Grow participants’ ability to communicate, see the hazards in a working shift and act on them preventively, and work well with others regardless of title or pedigree. Transformative Safety equips participants to take a strong pro-safety stand personally, as well as to build their co-workers’ commitment to safety.
Course Outcomes
By the end of Transformative Safety, participants will be able to:
- Connect their work in safety with their personal core values
- Assess the factors that impact an organization’s safety culture
- Recognize and describe the difference between safety management and safety leadership
- Become aware of their own and other’s emotional intelligence
- Know and employ the best places to begin improving human performance in their organization
- Lead peer-to-peer (and peer-to-higher up) safety coaching using team-building and writing exercises
- Apply a transfer-of-learning model that will help them ensure application of the powerful new insights they have gained
- Engage in strategies for yielding bigger, more far-reaching future returns on their organizations’ safety training investments
- Recognize barriers to Transformative Safety within their organization
